New Balance began in Boston in 1906 designing and developing arch supports and footwear. The first New Balance running shoe was manufactured in 1938. 1961 saw its first production track shoe, the “Trackster” released, which pioneered width fitting. Fit has remained a priority for New Balance ever since. In New Zealand New Balance offer four widths in men’s (D, 2E, 4E & 6E) and three widths in women’s (B, D & 2E). New Balance’s philosophy is designing products to fit, not to fit an image. They are driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best.
