School Holiday Activities
There are endless activities, games and places to visit to keep your children active and entertained these school holidays, here are some of our favourites.
WALK WITH THE ANIMALS
As well as a great family bonding experience, a trip to the Zoo (or wildlife/reptile park) allows your kids to get up close with the animals, which helps them build their imagination and creativity.
Make sure you plan ahead; take some time and check your local zoo website for daily schedules and special events, and be prepared; dress children appropriately, bring lots of water (and snacks) – and don’t forget sun protection (sunscreen, hats and sunglasses) and your camera.
GET SPORTY!
Check out what’s on with your local council. You’ll be surprised at how many sports camps and activities are run in local parks and sports grounds. Why not sign up your child to try a new sport – they’ll make new friends, and come home exhausted!

X MARKS THE SPOT
A treasure hunt is a good way to encourage your children to work as a team and use problem-solving skills. Write a list for each child of things they need to find and give each of them a small bag for collecting. Set a timer and off they go!
PITCH A TENT
No school break is complete without a proper family camping trip, even if you just camp out in your garden! Pitch your tent, spread out sheets and pillows, pack a picnic and enjoy the outdoors. If the weather is bad, set up your tent inside the house instead.
FAMILY BAKE OFF
Kids love baking, and even more than that, they love the delicious results of their work! Plan a day of cooking or baking with your kids - you could even have a cooking competition. You can find thousands of child-friendly recipes online depending on what you want to make.
