The Athlete’s Foot X The Good Hair Day

HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL IN STYLE

The Athlete's Foot have teamed up with Award winning Braid Specialist Brianna Mudie from The Good Hair Day.

Find your favourite Braided hairstyle and follow the steps below to create your perfect style for this back to school season.

1. FRENCH BRAID

FRENCH BRAID

Steps:

  1. Gather a section of hair at the top of your head and divide it into three equal sections.
  2. Take the left section and cross it over the middle section so that it becomes the new middle.
  3. Cross the right section over the middle section so that it becomes the new middle.
  4. Take some hair from the left side of your head and add it into the left section.
  5. Cross the now combined section into the middle.
  6. Do the same to the right section – take some hair from the right side of the head and add it to the right section.
  7. Cross the combined right section into the middle.

Repeat these steps until there’s no more hair to add into the braid. Once you’ve reached this point, continue a regular plait down the end of the hair.

2. DOUBLE DUTCH BRAIDS

DOUBLE DUTCH BRAIDS

Steps:

  1. Section the hair down the middle, so it’s split in half.
  2. Tie off one of the sections to keep it out of the way.
  3. Take some hair from the top of one of the sections and separate it into three equal pieces; left, middle and right.
  4. Take the left section and cross it under the middle one.
  5. Now take the right section and cross it under the middle.
  6. Now we will start adding more hair into the braid. Take a small section of hair on the left side of the braid and combine it with the current left section.
  7. Cross the left combined piece under the middle piece.
  8. Now do the same thing on the right side. Take a small section of the hair that’s already down on the right side of the braid and combine it with the current right section.
  9. Cross the right combined section under the middle.
  10. Continue this technique the whole way down the head until there is no more hair to add into the braid. When you reach this stage, continue the same technique just without adding extra hair (cross the left under the middle and then right under the middle.)
  11. Tie off the braid with an elastic.
  12. Take out the other section of hair and repeat these steps all the way down until you have 2 completed braids.

3. HALF UP PULL THROUGH BRAID

HALF UP PULL THROUGH BRAID

Steps:

  1. Section off the hair that you would like to leave down for this braid and clip it out of the way.
  2. Create a small ponytail at the top of your head using a clear elastic.
  3. Create another small ponytail a couple of centimetres under the first one.
  4. Take the top ponytail and split it in half.
  5. Take the bottom ponytail and pull it up through the middle of the first ponytail you split in half. Clip this ponytail at the top of your head to make the next step easier.
  6. Take the two halves of the ponytail that are hanging down and add some hair from either side to them before tying it together in another small ponytail.
  7. Unclip the now top ponytail.
  8. Split the top ponytail in half.
  9. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you have used all the hair you want up in the braid.
  10. Once you have run out of hair to add into the braid, continue the same steps except without adding any more hair into the small ponytails.
  11. Let down the hair that you wanted out for this hairstyle
